Jon Rahm has become LIV Golf’s biggest star signing since the renegade league upended the traditional golfing world in 2022. No amount has been revealed officially, but industry sources have put his multi-annual fee at between US$400 million and $600 million. 

There have been many criticisms of the LIV Golf bandwagon, mostly unjustified and often hypocritical. In one particular aspect, however, they unquestionably excel, certainly for the Valderrama event this summer anyway. Apart from a harsh personal (and professional) slight during the accreditation process, which they eventually rectified, the event was highlighted by a smoothly streamlined media operation.

With just 100 days to go before Spain hosts its first Solheim Cup, BMW Automotor Premium has been presented as the event’s sustainable official car. The company will be providing a fleet of all-electric cars for the tournament, which will pit Europe’s leading tour pros against their United States rivals during three days of intense competition (22-24 September) at Finca Cortesín.

Nine months out from the first Solheim Cup to be held in Spain, the biennial women’s team competition between Europe and the United States is already “smashing economic forecasts”.
