Summer Chic at Nikki Beach

Nikki Beach’s 10th anniversary celebrations in Marbella officially begin with the über-glamorous White Party on 30 May. Already opened to the public in April, Nikki Beach Marbella’s plush seaside setting of all-white beach sun beds and chic drapery includes a large outdoor restaurant, centrally located octagon-shaped bar, Lifestyle Boutique with items including Nikki Beach-branded and designer clothing, swimwear and cover-ups, indoor-outdoor VIP area (with elevated lounge area and stunning views of the Mediterranean) and spa area by the beach.

The lunch and dinner menu features signature tastes and spices that are representative of all the countries where Nikki Beach is located, including delicious salads, creative sushi rolls, original seafood entrees and slow-roasted free-range rotisserie chicken.

Nikki Beach Mallorca, which was inaugurated last year, is now also open for the new season, with its White Party to be held on 6 June.

Debut Triumph for Mireia

Mireia Prat made quick amends for losing an excellent winning chance earlier in the year when she secured a one-shot victory over Australia’s Bree Arthur in the Ocho Golf Ladies Open at the Augas Santas Balneario & Golf Resort in Galicia – part of the Ladies European Tour Access Series (satellite tour). Thrilling, assertive, evolutionary… three eye-catching new models unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show.

Lamborghini Gallardo: The most successful super sports car in Lamborghini’s history has a new design, “even more aggressive and more extreme” – the LP 560-4 and LP 570-4 Edizione Tecnica.

Jaguar F-Type: Returning to the company’s heartland, a two-seater, convertible sports car that is “a continuation of a sporting bloodline that stretches back more than 75 years”.

Porsche Panamera: The aim of the Panamera Sport Turismo concept car is “to show how amazingly intelligent and efficient drive technology might look in the design language of tomorrow”.

Volvo World Match Play Championship 2012

Graeme McDowell squeezed past Spanish home favourite Rafael Cabrera-Bello with a last-hole victory in the semi-finals.

Nicolas Colsaerts, the “Belgian bomber” (biggest hitter on the European Tour), followed up a maiden European Tour title at the 2011 Volvo China Open, and a 19th hole loss in the semi-finals of the 2011 Volvo World Match Play, against eventual champion Ian Poulter, with a final hole victory against the ever-dogged Graeme McDowell in the 2012 edition.

Columbian Camilo Villegas lost 3&2 in his match against American Brandt Snedeker in their duel for a place in the final eight.

Thunderous rain forced a temporary suspension of play in the Sunday morning semi-finals but the weather remained more benign – albeit windy – for most of the afternoon.

Finca Cortesín (2009, 2011 and 2012) is the only course apart from Wentworth to host the World Match Play Championship, which dates to 1964.
