Korda Sisters Share Honours in Aramco Team Series at La Reserva Club in Sotogrande

Two of the world’s leading women golfers shared the honours at the Aramco Team Series – Sotogrande tournament held at La Reserva Club in August.

The Korda sisters, Americans Nelly and Jessica (ranked third and 13th, respectively, in the Rolex women’s world golf rankings), emerged from three days of enthralling golf in the innovative Ladies European Tour event with a trophy each.

The first two rounds were played as a teams format, with one captain, two other professionals and one amateur combining their scores. Team Jessica Korda (also including Tereza Melecka, Noora Komulainen and polo player Malcolm Borwick) were victorious in this tournament within a tournament, carding a 33-under-par total to secure a one-shot win over Team Pauline Roussin.

After two rounds Jessica Korda was also well on target to add the individual title on the third and final day, holding a six-shot lead over the field, but she was unable to maintain her superlative play over the first 36 holes, which included a women’s course record 11-under 61 in the opening round – also equalling the lowest round recorded on the LET.

Nelly, the reigning Olympics champion, came from seven strokes behind her sister with a closing five-under 67 to win with a 13-under total, one shot better than joint second-placed Ana Peláez Triviño (Spain), Pauline Roussin (France) and Jessica Korda.
