EUROPEAN TOUR champion Gonzalo Fernández-Castaño has received the keys to his new home at Valle Romano Golf & Resort – a project he endorses on his travels in Spain and around the world.

The 29-year-old Madrid-based player, the winner of a title in each of his first four years on the European Tour (2005 to 2008), and the Sir Henry Cotton Rookie of the Year award in 2005, took possession of the home after another good – but frustrating – year.

He finished second four times, losing two play-offs in the process, but won a total of €1,209,372 and finished a career high 17th on the order of merit. He and wife Alicia had their first child, Gonzalo, in 2009.

To mark the renewal of his sponsorship, Fernández-Castaño and his “amigos” played a friendly match against Valle Romano golf academy pro and consultant Juan Carlos Piñero and his team. They are pictured with club manager Ildefonso Esquivel.
