NIGHT at the RACES

Themed live music on VIP terrace

THE SUMMER horse-racing season is now in full gallop at the Mijas Hipódromo, with six action-packed race nights from Saturday 3 July to Friday 6 August. Held in the evenings during summer to avoid the day-time heat, the race events have become a popular night out for residents and tourists along the Coast – with a mix of horse-racing, betting, restaurants, bars, entertainment and, for the first time this year, Le Chic, a ‘70s and ‘80s themed live music venue on the VIP terrace.

The only elevated public area, with superb views over the whole race circuit and plaza, Le Chic has free entry and normal bar prices, combined with a rustic “Tropical Cocktails” bar, a VIP zone with waiter service, barbecue food and a ‘70s and ‘80s disco with international DJs and a live band playing music from that era.

The night at Le Chic starts at 8.30pm when the racecourse opens its doors, the music begins straight away and the barbecue is fired up to serve beef burgers, smoked salmon wraps, samoosas and many other freshly made dishes. The live music starts at 9pm with the resident band and special guests.

Coming up is a special evening on 24 July: “Ladies Night”, based on “Ladies Day at Royal Ascot”, when the women of the Coast are encouraged to come dressed in their finest. Quirky hats are a must!

The race evenings are Saturday 3, 10, 17 and 24, Friday 30 July and 6 August. The first of five races is at 10.30pm, and subsequently every 30 minutes – with Le Chic closing at 3 am. Admission to the course is €5 and there is plenty of free parking.
