INAUGURATED in March, the Jason Floyd International Junior Academy is a fully-integrated facility – described as the first of its kind Europe – which offers a complete annual programme of study, golf and accommodation for children aged between 12 and 18 years. Set up at the Almenara club in Sotogrande by the Making Golf Group, the academy (ijgas.com) will take students from the next school year beginning in September.

The aim of English teaching pro Jason Floyd is to provide “a high quality of coaching for champions of the future”, with a team of golf professionals, psychologists, nutritionists, biomechanics and fitness trainers.

As David Leadbetter’s “right-hand man” for six years, working with such top international stars as Ernie Els, Nick Price, Lee Westwood, Ian Poulter and Greg Norman, Floyd was able to confirm first-hand that, “Success in the world of golf is not a matter of luck; it’s the combination of adequate coaching and the right attitude.”
